| | 1 1/2 lbs. salted Salmon or salted herring 1/2 C white wine vinegar or cider vinegar 1/4 C water
| 2 T minced fresh onion 1 t sugar 1/4 t ground allspice
| Dill or parsley (optional)

Soak salt fish over nite in water in the refrigerator to remove as much salt as possible. Cut the fish into small fillets (no bones). Arrange in deep serving dish. Bring vinegar and water to a boil and add the onions, sugar and allspice. Pour over the fish. Cool, then chill and serve, garnish with sprigs of dill or parsley.
